Czocha castle
Among the most beautiful castle hotels in Poland, Czocha Castle is one of the most popular choices for travelers. It is a place where medieval history meets modern comfort. This is a unique place for lovers of history, legends and castles. It is also an exclusive hotel with a gym and spa (massages, sauna, honey detox, ear candling, and other treatments that positively affect the body). While resting at Czocha Castle, you feel royal.
Czocha Castle is an exceptionally historic place with a unique atmosphere. It is one of the most beautiful castles in Lower Silesia, located on the shore of Lake Leśnia. The castle’s history is as rich as the number of names under which it appears in various sources (including Mons Tyzov, castrum Caychow, and Czachów). The first mention of the castle dates back to 1241, and its history is filled with historical events and quite a few changes in ownership. For those interested in the castle’s history, a guided tour is available to answer any questions visitors may have.
Urban Legend
The castle is associated with numerous legends – both old and more modern. The White Lady roams the castle’s corridors, the eerie sounds of a funeral procession can be heard, the one whose bridge collapsed, and unfaithful wives drowned in a nearby well are just some of the legends and stories linked to Czocha Castle. There is also a legend that Czocha Castle was home to Abwehr spy units and that Werner von Braun – the creator of German rocket weaponry and space rockets – stayed here. It is said that a secret archive of the Reich Security Main Office was located in the castle. And perhaps – one more story – there is a hidden treasure within the castle?
The arguments mentioned above are enough to entice anyone to spend a night in the mysterious and majestic Czocha Castle while in the area. What more do you need for an adventure?
Zamek Kliczków to też hotel (Dolny Śląsk)
Among the dense Lower Silesian Forests near Bolesławiec, with the sound of the Kwisa River nearby, stands Kliczków Castle, an imposing and unique structure in the region. Today, the site is mainly a conference and leisure center and hotel. Still, it also attracts many tourists interested in the architecture and history of the site, which dates back to the 13th century.
Kliczków Castle Hotel offers 219 accommodation places and 88 comfortable rooms for rent. There are suites, family rooms or standard rooms. In addition to accommodation, the castle hotel offers many interesting attractions. The traditional castle tour can be replaced by the modern alternative of a field game provided by the castle authorities. It’s a perfect way to spend time actively. During the game, you must move around the Castle grounds, search for clues, complete tasks, and solve puzzles. While exploring the castle, you may come across unusual places hidden for visitors. In addition, you can enjoy specially dedicated dishes, as the castle’s cuisine is based on local recipes.
There is also a spa here, so we have truly royal facilities. The castle offers numerous treatments by qualified cosmetologists, masseurs, and physiotherapists. It’s also a pet-friendly place so your beloved pet doesn’t have to stay home alone.
Treasures, treasures.
One of the places which is mentioned in legends, as the place where Talleyrand’s treasure can be found is Kliczków Castle. The treasure belonged to Dutchess Dorothea. Among the items were many letters from famous people like Fryderyk Chopin Aleksander Fredro, which belonged to Napoleon Bonaparte and Stanisław August Poniatowski – the last Polish king. After World War II the letters disappeared. Maybe someone will find them?
Zamek Książ
Książ is one of the largest castles in Poland. Such a monumental and beautifully situated architectural complex is unique in Europe. So it’s worth considering a trip and an overnight stay right here, in this fabulous setting, away from the big city.
Książ is an excellent place for relaxation. The hotel is located in three palace wings and currently constitutes the most significant part of the accommodation facilities within the Książ castle and park complex. Książ Castle is situated on a rocky promontory, rising to a height of 395 meters above sea level. The hotel has 80 accommodation spots featuring spacious and truly royal bathrooms.
The history of the castle is quite turbulent and unclear. Very little is known about the castle’s origins; information is available about the passing of the castle from hand to hand, its belonging to different states, and the wars waged around the castle, which was destroyed and rebuilt several times. During the tour, we will learn about the history and key events related to the castle.
The castle offers a wide variety of attractions for visitors. It can be explored during the day or at night, and its underground chambers can be visited. The Light Gardens are open for visitors to explore between October and February. A knights’ duel or a ball accompanied by lights, colors, and illuminations are the latest attractions of the Light Garden.
The Książ Castle is home to the Palm House. This green sanctuary contains 250 species of plants representing the flora of different climate zones and continents. Additional light shows are held in the Palm House during the winter, enhancing the visitor experience.
Exhibitions can be an additional attraction. Significant for the history of the castle is the exhibition opened in 2015, ‘The Metamorphoses of Książ Castle’. An unusual initiative, as 40 works of art from the collections of the National Museum in Wrocław have returned to the castle. They have been hung in the chambers where they once hung. This is called experiencing museum history.
In addition, the castle offers various local events – currently related to the upcoming Christmas, New Year’s Eve, or simply the winter season. It’s worth checking the castle’s event page before your trip to see the attractions available at Książ Castle and to reserve time for an aristocratic experience.
Reise Project or a string of pearls?
Project Riese and the 'golden train’ story remain an attraction for many cities today. It is believed that Książ Castle might have served as Adolf Hitler’s quarters, although this has not been confirmed. What is certain, however, is that beneath the castle lies a network of tunnels and corridors dug between 1944 and 1945.
One more story should be mentioned: Princess Daisy, who resided in the castle, owned a seven-meter-long string of pearls. It was a beautiful piece of jewelry but was said to be cursed. Because of the necklace, the princess could not find happiness – she divorced her husband, suffered from multiple sclerosis, and ultimately had her castle confiscated by the Germans. To this day, it is unknown where she was buried or what happened to the pearls.
So, when will it be your turn to enjoy a royal stay in one of Poland’s castle hotels?
