The granary was built just at the municipal gate because of its main destiny - the storage of diffrent goods floated by the Vistula to Torun. In the 1823 it was extended for the Torun fortress and joined with the municipal tower. It became the biggest Torun granary  and one of the biggest in Poland  (perhaps the biggest one). Today it is the seat of the hotel.
