The grand opening of the academy took place on 15 March 1595. To celebrate this event the founder of the university gave the famous "Proclamation for the Poles", which outlined the use of science and encouraged them to study. The patterns of planning of that early-Baroque building, with a strict symmetry and axis of cross communication system are an outstanding achievement in the field of the school architecture of the seventeenth century. At present there is a High School of J. Zamojski located in the building.
