The history of this place dates back to the 14th century. It started with the shepherds who found the statue of Our Lady holding the hands of the body of the dead Christ.
A chapel was built in the place where the statue had been found. It had become the place of pilgrimages and many wonders. In 1966, the Church received the title of minor basilica. In 1970, the parish was established. The Church houses unique Baroque organs, played to this day by the greatest musicians.
