The gate was built in gothic style in the first half of XIVth century. The enemy, to force this way to the town had a difficult task: firstly he had to beat a massive portcullis, with a gap to pour out boiling water on the conquerors heads ; the last obstacle was the solid gates additionally leaning crosswise bolts.
