The wooden Orthodox church is located to the southeast from the village of Tokary, near the Polish-Belorussian border, built on forest bog (so-called sacred spot of Koterka).
The church is located far from human dwellings. This place has a specific microclimate. One is often surprised with deep and uncommon silence when visiting this place. The church was built in 1912, initially as subsidiary of another Orthodox church but after 1945 it became the parish headquarters because part of the Tokary village and the parish headquarters found themselves within the borders of the former USSR when after World War II Tokary was divided by the political border. Since the original parish church remained on the Belarusian side, the church in Koterka became the parish headquarters.
