The Church was probably built in 1448 or 1482. A truss-hook-encasement system was used, one of the oldest types of construction of wooden churches.
Major renovation was done in 1885-1887, when the nave was extended westwards, shingle roofing was replaced with metal plates, and inside was split into three naves with two rows of wooden poles and decorated with an eclectic polychromy.
