In Piliki Forest, near to Bielsk Podlaski, on 15 July 1943 the Germans executed 49 respectable citizen, including priests (e.g. dean Antoni Beszta-Borowski, beatified in 2000 by Pope John Paul II), clerks and Polish social workers (e.g. senator Alfons Erdman). The path is accessible to every person willing to tour it. The natural forest path is used by teachers to give lessons of biology, the environment and history.
