Kraków-Częstochowa Upland – Ogrodzieniec Castle
The Ogrodzieniec Castle is located in the Polish Jura, on the “Trail of the Eagles’ Nests”, by the village of Podzamcze, on Castle Mountain, which is 515m above sea level. The castle burgh has existed here as early as in the 12th century. After it had been burnt and plundered by Tatars, it was replaced in 1470 by a Gothic castle built of hard limestone and dolomite rock. Over the years it was reconstructed many times. Only ruins have survived to this day which are still available for sightseeing.
