Wigry National Park – Lake Wigry
Lake Wigry is the largest lake in the Wigry National Park and also one of the largest lakes in Poland. Its area is approx. 2200 hectares with a maximum depth of 74m and its waters are the habitat of many bird species. A significant part of the lake is taken up by numerous islands and peninsulas one of which is the Klasztorna Peninsula with the town of Wigry and its historic monastery, formerly owned by Camaldolese monks. It is here that the Papal Route begins, which leads to Augustow.
