Morskie Oko Lake
Morskie Oko (The Eye of the Sea) is the most beautiful and the largest lake in Polish Tatra Mountains. Every day it attracts thousands of tourists delighted with its crystal clear water and picturesque surrounding. It is one of the most easily accessible places in the Tatras, which can be reached even by the least experienced walkers.
The first mention of the lake dates back to 1557, and at the turn of 19th and 20th century the lake became a subject of a dispute between Hungary and Galicia. There are numbers of highland legends on the Morskie Oko Lake. As one of them has it, Morskie Oko is connected with the Adriatic, from which the fish swim to the lake.
