The highly anticipated third edition of the European Games is scheduled to take place in Kraków and the Małopolska region of Poland from June 21 to July 2, 2023. This 12-day event will see 7,000 athletes representing 48 countries competing in 30 disciplines across 26 different venues.

The hosts were selected unanimously at an Extraordinary General Assembly of the EOC held on the day following the opening ceremony of the 2019 European Games in Minsk.

Leading the Games is the EOC Coordination Commission, expertly chaired by Hasan Arat (TUR) and co-chaired by Zlatko Matesa (CRO) and Niels Nygaard (DEN).

The venues chosen for the 2023 European Games boast stunning backdrops and require minimal infrastructure work, aligning with the IOC Agenda 2020 recommendations on environmental sustainability. Poland's captivating natural beauty and rich cultural heritage make it a popular tourist destination that visitors will find hard to resist.

Moreover, the Games will feature several new disciplines, including beach handball, making its senior multi-sport event debut since the ANOC World Beach Games in Qatar in 2019. This exciting addition will provide a fresh dimension to the Games and allow talented European athletes to showcase their skills on a bigger stage.
