Łódź is admittedly one of Poland's most creative cities. Collections of distinct art projects crisscross the town. The Rose Passage is one example of local talent and style. The project involved covering the walls of a tenement house with small, uneven pieces of mirrors, creating a glimmering mosaic. This shinning artwork is in the courtyard of Piotrkowska 3.
The Rose Passage is a work of Joanna Rajkowska and is very personal in context. Rajkowska's daughter, Rose, was diagnosed with eye cancer and required treatment. The broken mirrors symbolize the shattered retina and the project aims to assemble the fragments into one whole.
