Poland still managed to record significant tourism achievements despite the chilling effect that the COVID-19 virus had on travel last year. In spite of the massive disruption caused by the ongoing pandemic, several venues, cities, and events in Poland were recognized and prized for their resilience, high safety standards, and quality of services.
The European Best Destinations selected the Manowce Palace as the Best Wedding Venue 2020 in Europe. The beaches around the Hel Peninsula, together with Warsaw and Gdańsk were recognized as some of Europe's COVID-19 safest vacation destinations of 2020. Christmas markets in Warsaw and Gdańsk were placed among the Best and Coronavirus Safest European Christmas Destinations 2020. Respectively, Poznań's Christmas market was ranked 3rd best market to visit in 2021.
The coveted Google Map's Golden Pin 2020 award has been presented to sixteen exceptional destinations in Poland. The honors are awarded to those selected locations, which, based on Google Maps' users' opinions, rated as the best possible. From the world's largest bricked castle in Malbork, an African oceanarium in Wrocław, to the UNESCO's original site in Kraków, Citadel's Park lush green space in Poznań, Poland is genuinely the holiday gold standard.
Polish National Tourist Office closely monitors and reports on any changes in travel restrictions and quarantine regulations. Most current COVID-19 limits remain in effect, however as of February 1st selected museums and art galleries were permitted to open. Other indoor tourist attractions and venues such as theaters, movies, and indoor dining remain suspended. United States nationals are not permitted to enter Poland; however, Canadian citizens can do so. All individuals lawfully entering Poland are required to quarantine for ten days. Those with negative COVID-19 test or documented vaccination are exempt.
We are cautiously optimistic about Poland's prospect of travel in 2021. We remain hopeful that vaccination programs combined with already established and robust health and safety practices will drive the interest and fill Poland and European travel demand.
