Located in the centre of Zabrze, the iconic Kolejowy blue mining tower serves as a landmark for the historic Guido Coal Mine, a symbol of Poland’s strong mining heritage and a Polish historical artefact.

The mine was founded in 1855 by Count Guido Henckel von Donnersmarck and he took his name from that of the mine. The mine then became Experimental Coal Mine ‘M-300’ in the 1960’s finally becoming a brand of the Museum of Coal Mining in Zabrze in 1982. Visitors will embark on the journey of Silesia’s mining evolution, exploring the area’s geology, underground stables, chapels and even an actual coalface.
