Streetwaves 2014, Gdansk, 31/05/14 – 01/06/14

Streetwaves is weekend of urban events that each year heralds the coming of summer while drawing out the artistic activities of clubs and galleries into the expanse of Gdansk’s districts.

The city centre is abandon in search of undiscovered artistic and cultural activities which this time, on 31 May and 1 June, will be found on Wrzeszcz Dolny and Sobieszewska Island.  This year, the Streetwaves weekend will call upon the magic of urban summer-camps and the charm of seaside holidays, the best summer relaxation, memories of children hanging around the neighbourhood and family trips to the Baltic Sea.  As usual, there will not be a shortage of concerts in unusual locations, installations on pavements, workshops on the greens, unpredictable events and unexpected interventions.  “We will look after the youngest and oldest participants”, says Natalia Cyrzan, a Streetwaves coordinator, “we will take care of everyone who likes cycling, good food and being amazed.  We promise a big dose of walking on Saturday and a rest on Sunday.  We will eat breakfast together on the grass, admire dance performances, watch movies, participate in workshops and play badminton or other children’s games.  More energetic visitors can go for a walk in the woods while the not-so-active can play bridge under the clouds. One thing is certain; boredom can stay at home this weekend”.
