In case Poland didn't already have enough to offer you, with the endlessly beautiful forests, stunning beaches, lakes to swim and mountains to climb, here are some reasons that might give the book and film lovers out there some extra excuses to visit Poland on top of everything else.
Shindler's list fans will be happy to hear that many of the existing locations in Krakow were used in film adaptation of the book, including Schindler's own elegant apartment, at 7 Straszewskiego Street. Also Schindler's factory is the real thing, almost unchanged, at 4 Lipowa Street, while the church where the Jews meet, is the Gothic 14th century Church of St Mary alongside the Main Market Square.
And now something for fantasy lovers: Parts of Narnia: Prince Caspian were also set in Poland! Do you remember the scene when Lucy falls into the gorge and discovers the path that leads them to Prince Caspian's army? This is the Kamienczyk Gorge, with Kamienczyk Waterfall, the highest fall in the Karkonosze Mountains. And here's a secret for you: if you're visiting, you might want to stay as the cast and crew did at Kudowa Zdroj, one of the oldest health resorts in Poland, with a history dating back to the 17th century.
This time we picked only two, but there's also The Pianist (Warsaw), Ida (Lodz), Bridge of Spies (Wroclaw), Zero Ground Thirty (Gdansk) and many more. And remember, that you can always find more about Poland on www.poland.travel!
