During a press conference in Warsaw it was announced that Wroclaw has been accepted as the European City of Culture 2016. Wroclaw will become one of Europe's cultural centers till the end of that year. During this time a great number of festivals, concerts, conferences and other art and culture happenings will be held in Wroclaw. These events will underline the cultural importance that Wroclaw has on the region, country and the whole Europe.

Two cities, one from Poland the other from Spain, will hold the title of European Capital of Culture in 2016. The selection of a Spanish city is expected to be made on June 30.
