When visiting Zulawy, a part of the Pomerania Region, visitors should not miss this very special location. Arriving at Malbork is like being transported back to Medieval times, when the region was ruled by the Order of the Teutonic Knights.
This astonishing and imposing castle is the main attraction of this part of the region. Each year it draws thousands of visitors from all parts of Europe, if not the world. The ease by which it can be reached from Warszawa and the Tricity makes it an important venue on any itinerary in Poland. However, the castle, one of the largest and the most important fortifications in Europe, is not the only attraction. A boat trip down the Nogat River is a great opportunity to admire the panorama of the city from another perspective. Malbork is surrounded by several villages with some surprising architecture. Arcaded houses constructed by Dutch settlers’ dot the landscape and are the reason why this region is often called Little Holland. There are also a large number of churches which will be of interest to enthusiasts of ecclesiastical architecture.
Malbork has all the necessary requirements in the way of hotels and restaurants to guarantee a comfortable sojourn in the town leaving visitors plenty of time to become acquainted with this gigantic castle and its atmosphere of a distant epoch.
