Chief designer of the Centre Dr. Jan Kubec from the RAr- 2 Laboratory of Architecture, from Ruda Śląska described the concept: "A huge form on the joint of land and water with the delicate landscape of the Vistula River in the background".

The two-tier Centre will have 15 000 square km in total. Apart from exhibitions, laboratories and the studio there will also be a conference centre and offices, three cafés and restaurants with the view on the Vistula and the stage on water.

"Copernicus" is financed together by the city, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the Ministry of National Education. A cost of investment is 364.8 million PLN (207 million PLN comes from the EU).
