From July 2011 Poland will hold the Presidency in the Council of the European Union. Every six months a different member of the EU holds the Presidency presiding over the work of the Council.

Frederic Chopin Piano Competition is one of the oldest and most prestigious music competitions in the world. It is also among the group of few monographic piano competitions dedicated to the musical performance of one composer. It will be held in Warsaw, from 2 through 23 October 2010.

It is worth pondering this festival’s name afresh, since it gives rise to some fundamental questions. What was Europe for Chopin? What was (and is) Chopin for Europe? Above all, however, what does European culture mean to us today (and within that culture, that which is most important: art and philosophy)? What does Europe with its culture mean to us? Well, it means… everything! Without Europe and its culture, we would simply not exist!

Lively centres of culture and entertainment, absolutely multimedia and crowdsattracting – this is the way that the new, wonderful museums built in Warsaw are supposed to be. In the sequence of a few years Warsaw is going to turn into the city of museums. A few of them are coming into existence very soon-all are supposed to be even more modern than the Warsaw Rising Museum which is often refered to as a good example for other museums
