The Boryszyńska Loop belongs to the Lubrza’s Fortifications Route and its undergrounds begin in the village Boryszyn . Its estabilishing dates back to the end of the WW I. In 1933 the German started to build the original defence line called Line of Niesłysz and Obra. In 1938 the construction of the Arch of Odra and Warta (o called Międzyrzecki Rejon Umocniony) was given up. Shortly after the end of WW II, the fortification were under interest of the Red Army (transporting the equipment away). After that, the bunkers were under management of the Polish army. They planned to use them as the storing place for the radioactive waste from the nuclear plants. Luckily that did not happen. The Pętla Boryszyńska is the system of corridors which is the southernmost part of the Odra – Warta fortifications’ arch. Its chambers were used to store ammunition and heavy guns. The name is taken from the construction. The corridors make a loop. The undergrounds there were also two gauge railway stations: The Noerth and the South. Also the fortifications are the winter house and birthplace for the bats.
