Often called the religious capital of Poland, Częstochowa attracts pilgrims and tourists from the whole world. They flock to the Marian shrine in the Pauline monastery on Jasna Góra. The Chapel of the Miraculous Picture contains the icon of the Virgin Mary with the Christ, known as the Black Madonna of Częstochowa and attracting millions of pilgrims every year. The museum contains many pieces of art and votive offerings.
From Częstochowa, you can continue across the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland, an excellent place for hiking, climbing, biking and horse riding.
