Frederic Chopin (1810-1849) is one of the greatest Polish culture artists, the country’s biggest composer. He belongs to a unique group of the most played piano composers in the world. As said by the big poet Cyprian Kamil Norwid: “Warsawer by birth, Pole by heart and world citizen by his talent...”

In 2010, people will celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of this great Pole, by way of large artistic sensitivity and love for popular music. In Poland as in many countries around the world, a rich programme has been prepared to celebrate this anniversary.

We invite you to learn about the anniversary programme, to visit the places related to the composer and to discover the sources of inspiration of this great piano poet.

Polish Tourist Organisation prepared the second edition of the Chopin Sales Manual 2010. We hope it will encourage you to plan as many tours as possible to Chopin’s homeland.

Download audio for your mp3 player, along with the companion map, and enjoy a two-hour sonically guided tour of the Warsaw of Frederic Chopin's youth. Through stories, sound and music, you'll get an intimate glimpse of 19th century Warsaw - and the early years of one of the world's most significant composers - while walking through today's city streets.
