The Museum in Kielce is housed in a palace which once belonged to the Krakow Bishoprick. The palace, erected by Jakub Zadzik betweeen 1637–1641, is one of the best-preserved monuments of architecture in Poland dating back to the times of the Waza dynasty (17th century).

The rooms on the first floor retained their original interiors and beam ceilings. The ceilings are decorated with paintings and the walls with ornamental friezes. Behind the palace is a decorative Italian garden dating back to the 17th century.

In the Museum, the following permanent exhibitions are on display:

  • Historic interiors of the 17th and 18th centuries;
  • Ancient European and Polish armament,
  • Sanctuary of Marshal Józef Piłsudski
  • Gallery of Polish Painting and Decorative Art (with works by such artists as P. Michałowski, J. Kossak, J. Brandt, J. Chełmoński and J. Malczewski).
