Its idea comes back to the memory of the dialogue taking place in Łódź for many successive years, the dialogue of four cultures that created Łódź: Polish, German, Jewish and Russian. The festival presents comprehensive and versatile achievements in the field of culture, music, film, and theatre.

Polska jest krajem o długiej, bo ponad tysiącletniej tradycji i burzliwej historii. Świadectwem tego są pozostałe liczne zabytki architektury osadniczej, obronnej, sakralnej czy przemysłowej. Najwięcej i najcenniejsze z nich zachowały się w ośrodkach miejskich z wielowiekową tradycją, takich jak m.in. Kraków, Gdańsk, Poznań, Wrocław czy Sandomierz. Od początku istnienia Polska znajdowała się w centralnej części Europy na styku różnych kultur, wschodniej i zachodniej oraz południowej i północnej. W rezultacie wykształciły się tu wielokulturowe tradycje i zabytki, charakterystyczne dla danego regionu.
