Fuel stations

In the major cities and along international motorways and regional roads there are a great number of 24h gas stations. Not only can you fill your tank at a station but you can also eat something at fast food restaurants, do some shopping or use facilities. The most recognized international fuel companies in Poland are Shell, BP, Esso, Aral and Neste. There are also some Polish stations such as Orlen or Rafineria Gdańska offering excellent service and high quality fuel.

Tourists traveling far from main routes in the country should fill their tanks earlier as fuel stations located in small towns usually close at 6 p.m.

Types of fuel and road signs

A black fuel pump sign indicates a station and these road signs are located several kilometers ahead of the station. They usually indicate the approximate distance to the fuel station and what kind of fuel is available. A sign showing both a black and a green fuel pump indicates unleaded fuel for sale along with the standard fuel. Stations with LPG are marked with the LPG sign. Stations with only liquid fuel gas are marked with a LPG GAZ sign with no pictogram. The most popular types of fuel in Poland are 95-octane, 98- octane and diesel which is marked ON.
