Travel with pets

If you wish to bring your pet with you on your holiday in Poland, here are some useful tips.

EU visitors - pet passports

For travel witin the EU, your dog or cat must be microhipped and issued with the standard EU Pet Passports. Please ask your local veterinary inspector (LVI) for advice.

Non-EU visitors

Your pet may be brought into Poland subject to the following conditions:

  • Your pet must be chipped or tatooed;
  • You need to obtain the International Health Certificate issued no more than 10 days prior to arrival (on an EU compliant form); the an anti-rabies vaccination record issued at least 30 days prior to arrival, but no more than 9 months old.

Please ask the Polish Consulate in your country of residence about the latest update on these requirements.

Pets on holiday

Many hotels accepts pets, so it is worth finding about the house rules at the time of booking. The hotel may charge extra for a pet, usually not more than PLN50.00.

On public transport, every pet needs a ticket. Also, you are required to ensure the safety of other passengers by keeping your dog muzzled and on a leash.
