Apart from Poland's most prominent artists like Chopin, the Poles also revel in works of Penderecki, Moniuszko, Szymanowski, Lutoslawski, Szymanski, Gorecki, Mykietyn and Gryka. Foreign interpretations of renowned Polish artists delight audiences of the Polish Music Festival in Krakow. There are more than 180 orchestras and choirs in the country to choose from. The National Philharmonic Orchestra in Warsaw, the National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra from Katowice, the Sinfonia Varsovia and Sinfonietta Cracovia are ranked among the best in the country.

The "Arte dei Suonatori" Orchestra from Poznan is considered one of the most captivating Early Music ensembles in Europe and Royal String Quartet from Warsaw performs with most eminent musicians in the world. Unique in itself is the Ladies First Symphony Orchestra from Lodz established exclusively by female performers.

Most of Polish operas stick to conventional repertoire although there are some notable exceptions like the contemporary and daring productions of Mariusz Trelinski at the National Opera in Warsaw or the "Alpha Kryonia Xe" Ballet from uncompromising creator Aleksandra Gryka.

Outstanding performances can experienced at the Great Theatre in Poznan and the Wroclaw Opera, which is renowned for its spectacular Wagnerian shows which take place either in the modernist Centennial Hall or on the floating stage on the River Odra.

The greatest musical performances in Poland need to be booked well in advance. These include the Wratislavia Cantans or Warsaw's Autumn Festival, which celebrated its 50th anniversary several years ago. There festivals are dedicated exclusively to Mozart, Beethoven, and Bach.

Many world class artists always come to perform at the festivals of early music at "Songs of Our Roots" in Jaroslaw and the two festivals in Krakow of "Sacrum Profanum" and "Misteria Paschalia".
