In the second half of the 14th century a castle was erected in Kurozweki that was referred to as "Castrum Curoswank" in a document dating back to 1400.
"Krzyztopor" Castle was built by Wawrzyniec Senes between the years 1631–1644 in Ujazd and had been the largest castle in Europe until Versailles Castle was built.
The town of Checiny is located relatively close to Kielce on the route between Warsaw and Krakow. The town underwent major development owing to the deposits of precious metals such as lead silver and copper which were discovered there.
